Ellensburg Academy

Ellensburg AcademyEllensburg Academy is a series of civic education workshops designed to inform residents and community stakeholders about the operations of City government and what is involved in delivering and maintaining services to the residents of Ellensburg. 

The 2026 Ellensburg Academy is a two-session class designed to teach Ellensburg residents about the inner workings of Ellensburg’s local government. Join this free program to get involved and become a more informed and engaged resident! Enrollment is open to residents 18 and up.

Class is in session from 6-9 p.m. March 11 & March 18, 2026 at Hal Holmes Community Center, 209 N. Ruby St., Ellensburg. 

You'll get:

  • A behind-the-scenes look at local government
  • Practical knowledge you can share
  • A certificate upon completion of both classes and a secret swag item

The Ellensburg Academy is capped at 70 students.

  • Interesting and informative series of civic education and engagement program
  • Accessible and inclusive setup (interpreters available if requested)
  • Provides regular opportunity for information loop back to Council and staff – carry ideas into practice
  • Bring people to the table for discussion on community challenges and to engage in an exercise to share and reveal collective wisdom through liberating structures
  • Create a series of local educational forums and matching materials to bring understanding and
